Since I’m often travelling to NY, people often ask for tips on where to stay when visiting the city. Finding the right hotel in the Big Apple isn’t easy. Here are my top 4 favorite places to stay in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Where to stay in NY: 4 great hotels
Before you book your flight and start dreaming about walking through the streets of New York City, choose carefully the season for your visit. Prices for hotel rooms can vary significantly from month to month. Winter (with the exception of December) is usually cheaper than summer and spring. Fall tends to be the most expensive season for a vacation in NYC.
If your travel plans allow it, try to include a weekend in your stay in New York. Most business hotels offer weekend specials and you might get great deals on Saturdays and Sundays (when businessmen leave the city).
Young couple travelling on a budget: Bklyn House Hotel
This new, modern hotel in the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn (9 Beaver St, Brooklyn, NY) is a great place for young travellers visiting New York on a budget. The rooms are clean, comfortable (super-comfortable bed!) and cheap (you can get a double room for less than $ 150 dollars). They are fitted with tv, mini-bar and wi-fi.
A simple breakfast is included in the nightly rate (do not expect a feast, but you’ll have everything you need to get started in the morning: coffee, bagels, fruits, eggs).
Family travelling with children: Ace Hotel
Ace Hotel in Midtown, Manhattan (20 W 29th St) is a fantastic location for people travelling with kids. They offer special rates for children up to age 12 and discounts on stays longer than a week.
The hotel is carefully furnished with a blend of modern and antique pieces. The rooms are comfortable and extremely cosy. Ace Hotel gets the thumbs up also for its room service, which is available 24h/24h.
Honeymoon: The Standard Hotel
The Standard is a dream hotel a few steps from the High Line, one of NYC most romantic locations. All rooms offer a spectacular view on the Hudson River and on the city lights.
Creatives: Wythe Hotel
Artists and creatives will love this Williamsburg hotel. The building, which now features 70 rooms, was constructed in 1901 as a textile factory. The Wythe Hotel showcases exhibitions and installations throughout the year.
